TOBY

I am Toby,  a 17 year-old student  from London.  I have  couple of ‘difficulties’  to deal with. At the moment, I am studying a BTEC National Diploma in Health and Social Care….. with 78 girls! !  In the summer, I completed and passed 8 GCSEs. This was dispite having 3 brain operations the previous year. I am the youngest of three. I have one brother and one half sister.   I am an avid Spurs fan. I go to  many matches during the season. I also play the trumpet and enjoy playing computer games. Other hobbies include: cooking, gardening and working with computers.  Every first and third weekend of every month, I help to run a children’s group at a Unitarian church in Islington, North London.  I enjoy going to the gym and working out with my friends during my free time (little that there is!) at Park Road Gym.  I normally work at Action For Kids every Tuesday. Every so often, I work a full week.  My disabilities never get in the way of these activities.

RICHARD

My name is Richard I’m a 27-year-old aspie and I’m the latest addition to a new breed of AFK staff and that is ex W.R.L ( work related learning ) program students!!!

My actual job title is “fund raising assistant “ sounds kind of impressive doesn’t it? …. Well sounds being the operative word! However it does feel like I have landed on my feet with this job as I sometimes get to write things like this and various hilarious articles. And I only have to be a glorified data input monkey for the little time left over. I like my job as a fundraising assistant far better then my other job I’ve been working in much longer, which is a “checkout colleague” at a supermarket in north London. This is for many reasons – here’s a few:

  1. I get a desk without a conveyor belt
  2. I can wear my own clothes.
  3. The Looney public do not have direct access to me
  4. I don’t have to wear a badge with my name on it. So I’m not nearly so vulnerable to stalkers
  5. My new job title sounds more impressive to a girl I meet in a bar. As my type of job is less well known to the masses.
  6. Me and another one of this new breed get our own corner between us or as I call it ‘Aspie Corner’.
  7. I get paid to do the things I like doing e.g. writing funny articles for fund raising material. During an outing in work hours, I even got paid to sit on a mini buss and drink coke & impersonate my geography teacher for a couple of hours on one occasion.

    Please accept this award

    • Thanks for the nomination, but as a condition of the award involves passing it on to more people I’m afraid we can’t accept it in good conscience. Your kind thought is appreciated though.

      • The awards are so we connect to other blogs to gain new conscience no?

I respect your opinion 100% however.
If you could pass it to someone else? Perfect.
Just the award, not to do the away yourself.
Just pick someone you know who does awards and say “Here”
I met over 200 people, amazing people doing awards..
But they do take time..Respect.. Shaun

        Thank you.
